Former state representative Dr. Josetta Wilkins was on hand as some of the state’s top breast health advocates were recognized at the 2007 Josetta Wilkins Award ceremony in the Grand Hall of the Governor’s Mansion. This annual awards ceremony is sponsored by BreastCare, a program of the Arkansas Department of Health, and provides free breast and cervical cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment to Arkansas women who have little or no health insurance.
2007 honorees included Anita Russell of Little Rock and Mary Green of Benton (co-winners of the individual volunteer award), Ronda Henry-Tillman, M.D. of Little Rock (winner of the professional award and New Outlook: The Women’s Cancer Recovery Program of St. Vincent Health System was honored with the organization award. All winners were selected for having a positive influence and commitment to the fight against breast cancer.
"The honorees recognized here today are not only inspirational, but they also embody the dedication and passion of Dr. Josetta Wilkins, without whom the BreastCare program would not exist today," said Dr. Laura Hutchins, Chair of the Breast Cancer Control Advisory Board. "I count it a privilege to be able to publicly acknowledge these people who so selflessly consider it their mission to make life better for others."
